Truck driver entrapped after accident on R21 north

Paramedics found the man sustained serious injuries

A male truck driver, believed to be in his 30s, sustained serious injuries when two trucks collided on the R21 north at the Nellmapius off-ramp on Friday morning.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 10.30am, they found the truck driver still entrapped in the truck. The fire department had to extricate the man using the jaws of life, said Ineke van Huyssteen, spokesperson for ER24.

Paramedics found the man sustained serious injuries and he was transported to a hospital by another medical service on the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on the scene, she added.
