WATCH: The man who has been delivering your news for 17 years

Our newspaper delivery man of 17 years shares why he loves his job.

Each Thursday morning, come rain or shine, Khotso Makaota arrives at 126 Monument Road to deliver the week’s Kempton Express. He has been delivering newspapers for 17 years.

With a smile on his face and always without complaint, he hauls packs of newspapers from the large red Caxton truck. On the side, “Local newspapers” is written proudly.

After his visit to the Express’ office, he visits Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Birchleigh and Van Riebeeck Park to deliver readers’ weekly news to them. He gets up at 4.30am to make this possible.

“I love my job,” he said this week. “I enjoy it so much because it showed me the way. I started small and here I am. I have a family, children, a house and cars.”

So, enjoy your Kempton Express, which was delivered with much dedication from Khotso.

At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
