Schools are still opening tomorrow

The Gauteng Department of Education has refuted claims that schools will no longer open tomorrow (April 10) but only on April 16.

This follows after the department discovered a misleading message circulating on social media attributed to “District Officials”, informing learners that schools will no longer open tomorrow due to the late Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral.

“It is unfortunate that such a misleading message is widely circulated on social media. We wish to distance ourselves from this unwarranted message. We would like to welcome our learners and hope they are ready and looking forward to excel in term 2,” said MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
