Girl (16) killed in High Road head-on collision

Three other patients were found walking around on the scene

A 16-year-old girl was killed and three others injured on Monday afternoon following a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles on the High Road.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the two vehicles on the side of the road. The body of a young girl was found lying a few metres away from one of the vehicles, said Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24.

Three other patients were found walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found tat the young girl had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to revive the patient. Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned and the girl was declared dead.

Assessment of the three other patients showed they had sustained minor to moderate injuries. The patients were treated for their injuries and transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
