UPDATE: Prayer meeting for critically injured Gert Roets

Police investigate a case of attempted murder

A prayer gathering will be held tonight (Tuesday) for Gert Roets at 6.30pm at Barnard Stadium, home of the Wolwe Rugby Club.

Roets (23) was critically injured when two armed men attacked him and his friend, Devan-Lyell Kruger (23) , in the early hours of Saturday morning. Gert was shot from behind and now faces the risk of his leg being amputated.

Family and friends of the injured man urge residents to attend.

Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, said the incident is being treated as a case of attempted murder.

“No arrests have been made at this stage,” Molokomme added. He urged anyone with information to contact the station at 011 391 118 14/5 or 086 001 0111.
