Sassa will investigate the matter
A Sassa official insults and chases away beneficiaries at Tembisa plaza on April 2.
Concerned citizen Happy Mafumo noticed the ill-treatment and took action by rebuking the negative behaviour of the Sassa official.
“I was on my way to Shoprite when I saw elderly people and mothers being chased away from getting their grant money.
“The official working at the Net 1 machine was insulting grant beneficiaries.
When they complained, she said there was nothing they could do for her, they must just go away because she had her own errands to take care of.”
Beneficiaries said she always treat them bad. She chased the elderly people and the mothers away at 3pm when she is supposed to close at 5pm,” said Mafumo.
According to Mafumo, the Sassa official said people always report her but nothing comes of it because she works for the Government, not Net 1.
The Tembisa spoke to the Sassa manager at Tembisa branch, Thabo Saul, who said Sassa will investigate the matter.
“We will go to the outlet and find out what is happening and we will take it from there,” said Saul.
