The Olifantsfontein SAPS would like to warn the community of Olifantsfontein, L&J Informal Settlement and Clayville about the number of crimes transpiring in the areas.
According to Olifantsfontein SAPS communications officer Constable Mokete Serakwana the station is experiencing an increase of household burglaries, armed robberies and rape cases.
“We are encouraging members of the community to work hand in glove with the police in order to fight the criminal activity. People are urged to report any suspicious criminal act or abuse and continue with the neighbourhood watch,” said Serakwana.
Serakwana further said they are also experiencing a high number of armed robberies and rape cases occurring behind Oakmoor Train Station.
“Community members are advised to stop walking alone during late hours in that area because they might be victims of armed robbery or rape. Motorists are also advised not to park on old Pretoria Road next to Oakmoor, rather park your vehicle at the nearest garage to avoid vehicle theft and hijackings. We urge community members to take our crime alerts into consideration to avoid being victims of crime,” added Serakwana.
