WATCH: Car remains in Swartspruit hours after accident

The vehicle was still in the ditch at 8am on Monday when EXPRESS arrived on the scene.

The driver of a red Nissan Micra lost control and plunged through a roadside barrier on Pretoria Road, landing sideways in the nearby vlei.

The vehicle was still in the ditch close to the Elgin Road subway at 8am on Monday morning when EXPRESS arrived on the scene.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the accident took place on Sunday night at around 10.15pm.

“According to Call Taking and the northern region dispatching centres, they do not have more information of the crash except that, last night, a red Nissan Micra lost control and rolled into the ditch,” said Mokheseng.

Mokheseng added that three occupants were transported to hospital by ER24.

“It is not clear at this stage how many occupants were actually in the sedan, what caused the crash, which hospital the patients were taken to and the injuries they sustained at the time.”
