UPDATE: EMPD revert to rubber bullets as squatters turn volatile (video included)
Residents are requested to avoid the area, especially Fried Street
The metro police have reverted to firing rubber bullets at residents of the Dann Road Informal Settlement in an effort to contain the volatile situation which erupted after shots were fired earlier this morning.
While rubber bullets were being fired, residents inside the settlement though stones at the officers, also threatening they had live ammunition.

The metro police called in reinforcements.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to attend to a woman and an injured metro police officer. It is not clear at this stage why the woman is being attended to, as no-one was wounded. Apparently a metro police officer was bitten by an arrested suspect.
Express’ reporter says the community is angry following the opening of fire. Apparently a bullet just missed a female resident and insults are being hurled at metro police officers.
Residents are requested to avoid the area, especially Fried Street.
The latest news is that the metro police are still monitoring the situation and that things seem to have calmed down.
Glen Balad Mall has closed its gate on Fried Street.
