MELO Foundation puts a smile on children’s faces at Tembisa Child Welfare

MELO Foundation puts a smile on children's faces.

The Mentor, Empower and Love Others (MELO) Foundation staged a winter drive at the Tembisa Child And Family Welfare Society on May 26.

MELO Foundation founder Tumelo Mthethwa said children enjoyed jumping on the jumping castle, getting their faces painted as well as meeting a celebrity who graced the event.

She added that the stand-up comedian, reality TV star and musician Mongezi Ngcobondwane, popularly as Tol Ass Mo, was the motivational speaker for the day.

“I was raised by a single parent and it was hard.

“I can only imagine what it would’ve been like growing up with no parents.

“I wanted to inspire the children and remind them that like me they can become anything that they can dream.

“If they can dream it then they can be it,” said the Tembisa born star Ngcobondwane.

Mthethwa thanked Roots Butchery for the meat and other soup ingredients, Edenvale Methodist Church sewing ladies for the knitted items, Royalty Projects for the jumping castle, Lerato Machaba for all her assistance, as well as all other role players who contributed to making the event a success.

“We are born to make a difference wherever we go, we are grateful for the opportunity to make an impact on these children’s lives, put a smile on their faces and make them warmer,” said Mthethwa.

She also encouraged community members to find a needy cause in their area and lend a helping hand whenever they can.

Volunteers took the time to visit the children.
