It was a day well spent. The young people and the executive committee of Tembisa United Ministers Forum and staff members of the Tembisa Old Age Home were honoured to celebrate Gogo Anna Tau’s 100th birthday as well.

When addressing the seniors, Nomsa Mangane, representative of the youth, said they love and support older people in the township.

“It is our responsibility as young people to look after the elderly and ensure they feel worthy. Some of us look up to them for advice on practical, as well as important life matters. The elderly are a great inspiration,” said Mangane.

Meanwhile, Bishop Dominic Nkosi said they will come to the centre at any time that they need them.

Senior citizen Anna Tau celebrated her 100 years on June 16 at the Tembisa Old Age Home.

“We will continue to pray for our elders because we don’t want them to lose hope. We will also encourage them to take part in biblical studies to keep them emotionally and socially active. Our aim as the forum is to be there for them, to enhance their self-esteem and uplift their spirits,” added Nkosi.

Tembisa Old Age Home manager Connie Mbuqe said she really appreciates the fact that the Tembisa youth is supportive of the elderly and donates whatever they have to help sustain them.

“We wish others can learn from those who are considering this type of community initiative to uplift the standard of the community. I am thankful and pleased because the donations will make a great impact,” added Mbuqe.
