Man airlifted after crashing into wall on High Road

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was left critically injured on Monday afternoon when his car crashed into a wall at the High and Stanley roads intersection in Benoni.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said paramedics arrived on the scene at 5pm to find the vehicle on the side of the road against a wall. A man was trapped inside the vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the patient from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

Due to the nature of the patient’s injuries, he was later airlifted to a private hospital by a private medical helicopter.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
