Moeng Winery teases Tembisans’ palate

Township youth get into wine business.

On September 27 Retshegofetse Moeng honoured the Tembisa Startup Grind with his presence to share his knowledge on the wine business.

Attendees got to taste wines and learned about different types of wines at the event hosted at the Yes hub in Makhulong section.

The founder and CEO of Moeng Winery said they are a premium winemaking company established to cater for the ambitious professional and individuals who want to identify with a wine brand that communicates success, achievement, ambition, vision and greatness.

“The company sources its grapes from the best farms across South Africa and internationally, allowing the winery company to produce an exciting and a diverse set of wines.

“Moeng Winery is crafted for those who follow their dreams and challenge the status quo by standing out.

“I started Moeng Winery in my mother’s caravan in the North West,” said Moeng.

Today Moeng Winery is also exporting some of its produce to neighbouring countries.

Retshegofetse Moeng shares his knowledge on business.

Moeng studied for a Bachelor of Accounting at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and joined the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of Southern Africa (Abasa) as secretary and later that year was elected as chairperson of the UJ branch.

Abasa is where the entrepreneur honed his leadership skills which he now applies in his own business.

“I joined Sage Pastel in 2015 to train as a Sage Evolution Expert Professional and Sage One Advisor.

“In 2016 I joined their business partner Omni Africa as a Sage Evolution Junior Consultant specialising in ERP installations.

“I later joined Dlamini Attorneys as a bookkeeper,” said Moeng.

After many years serving in the corporate world and suffering from stress, Moeng decided to venture into business and established Moeng Winery.

Moeng said at Moeng Winery they are inspired to inspire. Tembisa wine lovers who want to taste his offering can visit Sabelo’s Café in Ethafeni Section.
