Kazi musician Mouze lives his purpose
This young lad started to live his purpose when he travelled the world, furthering his education at the same time as pursuing his talent.
While some people prefer being employees of companies and government institutions, local musician Schoeman Silindana is living his purpose and makes a living out of his own talent.
Silindana, popularly-known as King Mouze in the music industry, grew up in the dusty streets of Tembisa Kazi and shares his passion for music with up-and-coming artists.
He currently owns two recording studios where he develops youngsters in the music industry.

He persued medical studies in Ciudad de la Habana, Cuba.
When he returned, Mouze met with prominent musicians such as Arthur Mafokate, a popular kwaito musician. Mouze was officially first signed by the Kwaito King Arthur after he told him to bring his demo to 999Music Studio based in Hillbrow.
By then, Mouze managed to record his first album, Mouzefood, released in 1997.
His biggest hit with 999Music Studio followed, Mouzeland, which sold over 17 000 copies.
With growth comes an air of changes. Mouze decided to part ways with the 999Music Studio to form his own record label.
Before he left the studio, he got a chance to work with the late gospel guru Vuyo Mokwena.
Since he launched Mouzeland Entertainment (Pty) Ltd in 2001, he has released 14 CDs.
“I always celebrate when I hear my songs aired on radio or see oneself on television. I think it will always remain special to me,” said Mouze.
This bilingual hip-hop musician also travelled as far as Manchester (UK), Australia and other parts of Africa.
He extended his company when he ventured into fashion, MLR, his own clothing brand.
Mouze also empowers young people in his modelling agency called Mr and Ms Tembisa Schools.
He lists Dr Dre, Michael Jackson, all West Coast gangster rap and Sade D’Angelo as his favourite musicians.
When asked how he tackles all of his projects, Mouze said: “It is always a blessing to be able to put more effort into his passion and talent. The recording and writing process can be so draining because, in each song, I am always trying to create that one or two special moments that make you want to get to the next moment. I’m at the mercy of whatever inspiration I’m under, that inspiration will come to me and say ‘okay, that’s it’. I have a strong belief that everything is possible when you believe. It all starts with the passion, love to help others and dedication.”
Politically inclined Mouze is highly influenced by the likes of Che Guevara, Cde Mao, Steve Biko, Nelson Mandela, and Fidel Castro.
As for what lies next for Mouze, he refers to the track, Scottish Never Dies, as a summary of his latest album, an experimental instrumentation in hip-hop with subtle Latino grooves, as a hint of what’s to come.
