Surf empowered Tembisa’s unemployed residents by assisting them to create or update their CVs at Phumulani Mall in Tembisa on October 6.

Surf brand manager Jeffrey Madkins said hundreds of citizens from Tembisa were empowered going through the activation, receiving interview tips, updating their CVs, getting tips on how to dress for success and taking photographs, looking ready for their careers.

“Not only do we want to allow our users’ clothes to shine, we really want to help our consumers to build confidence and let themselves shine in the best way possible.

Caps Radio broadcasts live at the event.

“That’s when we launched the Surf School of Shine initiative.

“On www.surfshine.co.za is where you can get free course material on career interview tips and career planning.

“There are also budgeting and finance courses, so it is a great initiative to really help our consumers to get that little bit of confidence on their road to success,” said Madkins.

He said every Saturday they will be visiting different malls where people can come and have their CVs created.

Madkins added Surf has partnered with Harambee Recruitment Agency on a youth employment accelerator programme where the youth can sign up for a potential job opportunity.

“We also had interview training tips from the Yes programme that has recently been launched by president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Youth get to create their CVs.

“We have everything down here as well as an opportunity to win R30 000 in prizes and a time to shine kit you can win,” Madkins explained.

Sports broadcaster Mpho Letsholonyane was there as an influencer and she said moreover tell young people about the Surf School of Shine initiative.

“Not only to know about it but to be able to use it because I feel like it is a great initiative. More often than not we see brands wanting to push themselves but now we a historically big brand that wants to pave a way forward in terms of getting young people to get their CVs right, to get their interview knowledge right and be dressed for success.

“I feel it’s a great initiative and that is why I got involved,” said Letsholonyane.
