Confiscated alcohol flushed down police drain

Confiscated alcohol seized at illegal taverns in Rabie Ridge is down the drain.
Capt Mofana Masela, spokesperson for Rabie Ridge SAPS, said the police decided to pour the liquor down a manhole on the premises of the police station on October 9.
He said the alcohol was confiscated during several operations in September and the beginning of October. During these operations the police visited taverns to establish whether they complied with the law.
“Several taverns in Mayibuye, Phomolong and Kanana were raided and closed and a several types of liquor were confiscated. The owners were charged with dealing in liquor, summonses were issued and the liquor was stored as evidence. The unclaimed liquor was disposed of,” he said.
“The police call on communities to stop selling liquor without a licence. The community must discourage those committing this offence.”
