Taal-Net students shine at arts festival
Socially, the event was a means of strengthening intercultural dialogue, promoting deeper understanding through shared experience.
The annual Taal-Net Arts Festival took place on October 12 at Taal-Net School Meadowdale in Germiston.
The festival attracted all 11 Taal-Net Group of Schools from South Africa and Zimbabwe, including the one in Kempton Park.
The programme comprised of drama, dance, comedy, poems and music as an expression of creativity. Students had the chance to showcase their talents and skills.
The event offered an opportunity for experimentation across the arts and cultural spectrum.
The event records the patterns of cultural change, brings communities together and broadens our arts and cultural horizons. For performers – in this case, students, it is a chance to be part of something that is bigger than their individual production.
Taal-Net believes art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artefacts (artworks), expressing the performer’s imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.
The Taal-Net Group of Schools Arts Festival was a celebration of the richness and diversity of arts, culture and creativity and encompassed a variety of contemporary and traditional art forms. Socially, the event was a means of strengthening intercultural dialogue, promoting deeper understanding through shared experience.
