Local high school youngsters plan charity drive for care centre in Tembisa
On the day of the event, there will be entertainment by the musicians.
A group of youngsters from Hoërskool Birchleigh and Norkem Park High School will host a charity drive for Tshepang Care Centre on December 1.
These youngsters have an entertainment company, Trap Villain Entertainment, which comprises four musicians residing in different suburbs in Kempton Park.
The aim of this company is to discover any musical talent within Kempton Park. With the rapid growth of the company, the boys, aged 18 to 19, have taken it upon themselves to host a charity drive for children in need at Tshepang Care Centre in Vusi Muzi informal settlement in Tembisa.
The centre accommodates children and young adults between the ages of one to 22.
Said Patience Ramashapa from Tshepang Care Centre: “We currently have 210 children and young adults we cater for. Only four boys live here and three girls live with my sister, Sarah Sibiya, who is the founder of the centre. The rest of them come for food, extra lessons after school and anything we can give them because they are underprivileged. We can only offer them what we have since we depend on donations.”
“I am so grateful for what the boys are doing.
“The drive aims to collect food, clothing, toys and toiletries for the centre. “We have seen how the centre needs as much help as they can get from surrounding communities and we want to help,” said Ndumiso Qudalele, one of the founders of the company.
On the day of the event, there will be entertainment by the musicians. “We are also planning to host another event at the beginning of the year to give out stationery to children in need,” said Qudalele.
