JUST IN: Recycling company in Spartan goes up in flames (videos)

Black smoke filled the air as tyres were engulfed in flames.

A recycling company in Spartan that burned down two years ago, again went up in flames on Sunday afternoon.

According to ward councillor Simon Lapping, who was at the scene, a person was arrested for starting the fire. This could not be confirmed yet.

Black smoke filled the air as tyres were engulfed in flames.

The company is situated on Plane Road close to the Len Futcher Building near the subway.

On September 12, 2016, a fire started at the same premises. This fire, alleged to have started as a grass fire, was fueled by a strong wind and quickly spread across the company’s premises.

A nearby vehicle repairing workshop, as well as eight vehicles, were caught in the fire.

More information will follow.
