Donate wool for babies in need
Do you have wool lying around that you'll never use? Rather donate it to a good cause.
Kempton Park Vroue Landbou Unie (VLU) has joined hands with the non-profitable organisation, Beanies, Booties and Blankets.
This organisation supplies, as their name suggests, beanies, booties and blankets to premature and new-born babies in need. They knit these items themselves.
According to Lulu Pieterse, public relations officer for the branch, local women are hard at work knitting necessities for the babies of Tembisa Hospital.
“To continue our work, we need wool,” Pieterse told Express. “We would appreciate any donations.”
In a statement, Beanies, Booties and Blankets’ secretary Patricia Hempel-Stolk mentioned that donations of polar fleece or flannel were also welcome.
“Our knitters range from 12-year-old girls to the elderly. They are not always able to buy these items themselves.”
Readers who would like to make a donation for this on-going project can contact Pieterse on 082 761 8116.
