Elderly Portuguese citizen collapses and dies at OR Tambo Airport
The passenger was with his family when the incident occurred.
Management of OR Tambo International Airport has confirmed that a passenger who collapsed in the airport’s terminal building on Tuesday had died the same day.
According to Leigh Gunkel-Keuler, spokesperson for the airport, the 71-year-old Portuguese citizen was with his family when he collapsed due to health-related issues.
“The man was rushed to the airport clinic and was attended to by paramedics,” Gunkel-Keuler said.
However, the man was declared dead an hour later.
Gunkel-Keuler offered her condolences to the family of the passenger. “We are greatly saddened by the death of the gentlemen,” she said. “We wish his family strength and comfort in their bereavement.”
She also thanked the paramedics for their quick response and efforts.
