Conservation society’s 2019 calendar is now available

The calendar retains the same format as recent years.

Modderfontein Conservation Society’s highly popular wall calendar for 2019 has been released.

The new calendar has again been supported by AEL Mining Services and features a beautiful photograph of a Goliath heron flying majestically across Fish Eagle Dam in the Modderfontein Reserve.

The photo was taken by Thornhill Estate resident Colin Parr, recently retired and devoting more time to his passion for nature photography.

Colin Parr, who took the featured photograph on the 2019 Modderfontein Conservation Society calendar.

He can often be found hauling his cameras and lenses around the reserve in the early morning light, determined to capture nature at its best. As a result, choosing the featured photo was described as a lengthy but very pleasurable task of viewing Colin’s short list of bird pics.

The calendar retains the same format as recent years, a wall calendar with a space for each date for noting appointments, making it not only visually attractive but also practical and useful.

Due to Modderfontein Post Office not being staffed, sales outlets for the calendars will be at Cartridgeworx and Post Link in the new Flamingo Shopping Centre in Modderfontein Village.

“Both shops kindly stepped in to the breach and agreed to help the society with this, our largest annual fund-raiser,” says Robbie Vermont.

The calendar costs R30.
