Ivory Park-based Ngkontsi was been crowned as Her Highness Royal Princess Tankiso Ngkontsi of Mesa.

“It empowers women and as one of the young women in South Africa, it granted me an opportunity to be able to showcase my capabilities. To be able to empower not just the people around me but to be able to engage with my community and empower young girls. It has been an amazing experience for me that came with challenges but what is life without challenges? I’m very grateful to have made it this far in this competition. I didn’t do it alone, everyone who believed in me and who walked with me helped me through,” explained Ngkontsi.

She said knowing she was an inspiration to someone is what pushed her to keep striving to make it through so that she will get a chance to do more than she already has.

“I enjoy engaging with my community as that gives me a chance to get to know people and their needs. There is so much the community seeks and needs but their voices can’t be heard. As a young woman who wants to see change in her community, I want to be the voice for the voiceless. I’m not only doing this to pursue my modelling career. I can do more if I get enough votes from the people. Please help me bring this crown home,” added Ngkontsi.

Anyone who wishes to vote for Ngkontsi can SMS Tankiso to 35334.

SMSes cost R3 and the voting lines will close on November 30.

The pageant will take place at Barnyard Theater Suncoast Casino in Durban on December 17.

Tickets are now available at Computicket from R350.
