Kempton, Tembisa take hands in fight against crime
"I have been the victim of crime myself, and want to help wherever I can," Jan Vermaak said after Tembisa locals contacted him.
Crime is everywhere.
So, when a group of worried Winnie Mandela residents in Tembisa spotted an article in Kempton Express about mass security patrolling in the area earlier this month, they decided to take action against crime too.
They contacted Jan Vermaak, chairperson of AfriForum Kempton Park, who offered free security training and safety awareness to a group of 30 residents on November 16.
“I have been the victim of crime myself and want to help wherever I can,” Vermaak told Express.
“Crime doesn’t know race, and those who want to fight against crime don’t care about race either.
“We will certainly have more of these events and hope to involve the entire community.”
