UPDATE: Eskom has implemented rolling blackouts from 9am on Friday

Eskom has announced that Stage 2 load shedding will be taking place from 9am and is likely to continue until 10pm.

There is a high probability of stage load shedding from 9am to 10pm on Friday.

Eskom said it would only be implemented if absolutely necessary.

According to the power entity additional units were lost overnight.

Stage 2 calls for 2 000 MW to be rotationally shed nationally at any given period. Load shedding is conducted as a last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.

Should load shedding be implemented on Friday, here are the times and suburbs for Kempton Park.

9am to 1pm: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park

12.30pm to 3.30pm: Birch Acres, Terenure, Edleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton West

3pm to 6pm: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Ext 49, 52, 89 & 98, Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4

5.30pm to 8.30pm: Ripple geyser control

8pm to 10pm: Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park Ext, Croydon, Cresslawn, Rhodesfield, Kelvin Estate and Esther Park
