Edleen mom helps others to succeed in the business world
Join Nwabisa Makumule's Sister-Sister Network if you are a woman in business in Kempton Park, so you can network with like-minded women.
An Edleen resident believes that the power of entrepreneurs networking can build the economy, other than having people just doing their own thing.
Nwabisa Makumule (34) is a mother of three who realised that entrepreneurship is the only way to survive. She founded her business, Lumamu Consulting, in 2013 after working a nine to five job for almost 10 years.
The mother of three decided to build and launch her own network called the Sister-Sister Network, which is a woman empowerment network where women in business can communicate and help each other in different areas of the business world.
“The purpose of this network is more about the challenges we as women in business face. If we speak to each other and advise each other, we realise we are not alone in this business world and we are able to overcome challenges together,” said Makumule.
She says in the workplace there were many opportunities that were denied, and she was limited to do what she really wanted, which lead to her opening her own business.
“I am happy that I was denied opportunities because that inspired me to do more and explore.”
Makumule says she is passionate about the youth, which is why she also has interns at her business. She develops them in the field she is in. Her business is an event and marketing agency which specialises in venue finding, event equipment hire and provides branded promotional material like pens, T-shirts, etc.
