Traffic wardens clean up at Norkem Park Transfer Station

The EMPD Edleen precinct, together with other stakeholders, will closely monitor the area.

The entrance of Norkem Park Transfer Station is an eyesore as people continue littering there.

This has caused an uproar from residents and businesses alike in the area.

“On realising the untenable situation, the Edleen precinct commander, since December, had on a periodic basis enlisted one of her inspectors with a team of traffic wardens to clean up the area and urge commuters to not litter the area,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the metro police.

This has now brought about a situation which has resulted in the entrance of the transfer station being targeted as a point to gather and collect recyclable materials, he added.

“The EMPD Edleen Precinct, together with other stakeholders, will closely monitor the area and as and when it is necessary, deploy traffic wardens to conduct cleaning up operations. Residents are implored to not litter as this is an offence that carries a fine and most importantly, to keep the area clean to avoid health hazards cropping up.”
