Keep an eye on our schools and clinics, police urge

The station commander of Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, calls on the local community to assist the police in keeping a watchful eye over public properties, such as schools and clinics.
Ngcobo made the appeal in light of what happened in Tsakane where state-of-the-art equipment was stolen at a brand new school.
He said similar break-ins have occurred in Ivory Park, Ebony Park and Kaalfontein in the past.
“We must never regard what happened in Tsakane as something from some faraway place. Our experience has taught us we also have such characters in our community who wouldn’t hesitate to jeopardise the future of thousands of children for their narrow selfish interests,” said Ngcobo.
“The Ivory Park police are deeply committed to making sure these public properties are safe at all times; hence we are working with the schools to ensure that. But the most important stakeholders are the residents whose dwellings surround these premises and from where some of the criminals come from,” he said.
