CAT/IT learners youth empowerment programme

Matriculants who have passed CAT or IT are encouraged to apply for youth empowerment programme.

All CAT/IT matriculants are now eligible for the prestigious Certified Computer End-User Practitioner (CCEUP-SA) certification offered by the Institute of Chartered IT Professionals (ICITP) in partnership with the Department of Basic Education and the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

A thorough analysis and appraisal of the national CAT/IT curriculum revealed that learners who passed CAT/IT at matric level possess fundamental IT skills, making them eligible for entry-level practitioner status in the IT sector. However, until now there has not been any industry recognition for these skills, making it difficult for CAT/IT competent youths to find gainful employment.

CCEUP-SA is a UJ endorsed Industry Credential and Work-Readiness IT certification that offers a solid foundation in information technology practice and demonstrates the holder’s competence as a competent digital practitioner. It is accessible to candidates who have information technology fundamental skills and can provide elementary support to end-users in a business environment.

The programme was developed particularly for youths, aiming to enhance their employability, reduce the youth unemployment rate, promote lifelong learning and empower young South Africans by preparing them for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as prescribed by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

All matriculants, past and present, who passed or are currently studying CAT/IT at matric level qualify for the CCEUP-SA certification. It is awarded after qualified candidates successfully complete a five-day CCEUP-SA masterclass at UJ.

To apply, email a copy of your ID/passport and a copy of your matric certificate or statement of results indicating a pass in CAT/IT to cceu@icitp.org.zaApplicants can also send a text with their name, surname and contact number via WhatsApp to 062 965 8250.
