WATCH: Kaleideo prays for our high school learners and teachers
'This was a very special evening and we will host this event annually'
Kaleideo Church in Glen Marais held a special prayer during their Sunday evening service for all the local high schools in Kempton Park.
Prefects from Hoërskool Kempton Park, Hoërskool Jeugland, Hoërskool Birchleigh, Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld High School and Shangri-La Academy represented their schools.
The prayer evening also focused on the teachers and principals of the different high schools. The church’s Praise and Worship Team opened the prayer evening with song.
“This was our second year hosting the event,” said Jade du Preez, Youth Ministry leader at the church.
“Last year, Hoërskool Kempton Park and Hoërskool Jeugland attended and it is great to see more schools managed to attend this year.”
Shortly after the praise and worship session, the congregation stretched out their hands towards the prefects who were asked to stand while Du Preez prayed for them.
The teachers and principals were also prayed for by senior pastor Emille Steyn.
“We are honoured to be in the presence of future leaders, and we need to understand the importance of praying and supporting our these leaders,” said Steyn as he addressed the congregation.
“To our future leaders, you must remember that leadership is influence, and if you say that you are leading people but you are walking alone, just know that you are just taking a walk.”
Steyn also thanked the teachers and principals for the amazing job they do with the learners.
Past Johan Pieterse delivered the evening’s sermon.
His great sense of humour, energy and interesting references that were relevant to his preaching made it easy for the congregation to give him their undivided attention. Others were also seen frequently making notes.
“This was a very special evening and we will host this event annually and hope to grow the attendance,” said Du Preez.
“If more schools want to join in on this event and take hands with us next year they can gladly contact me on 082 815 6856 or email me on jade@kaleideo.co.za.”
