Ward committee reaches out to schools
The ward committee will continue to visit and follow progress at nursery schools in Ward 104.
Ward committee members of Ward 104 collected a variety of toys, books and teddy bears to give to schools in the ward.
Two schools were assisted, namely Light House Kidz in Kempton Park West and Special Moments in Terenure, a special needs school. They look after children with autism, Down syndrome, blind, cerebral palsy and other related disabilities, said ward councillor Tracey Lourenco.
The ward comprises Esther Park, Edleen, Terenure, Kempton Park West, a section of Van Riebeeck Park and a section of Birch Acres.
Special Moments is fully compliant and its mission is to provide the best possible care to ensure children are not left out of education just because they have a disability.
“Much more attention needs to be focussed on these early development schools so the best quality of education is provided, as the developing years are critical to a child’s future,” said Lourenco.
