Car ends up in water after driving off Andrew Mapheto Drive bridge

Four occupants of a car which fell off a bridge near Chloorkop late last night, was brought to safety by fire and rescue services using a ladder.

Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, said the accident happened around 11.30pm on Andrew Mapheto Drive, Chloorkop Ext.

“Reports from the scene indicated the driver of a light motor vehicle lost control over a bridge, ending up in the water below. Fire and rescue services assisted the occupants to a point of safety using a ladder,” said Herbst.

Two of the four occupants sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene and transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
