Tembisa learners receive new school uniforms

The school uniform included a tunic, jersey, trousers, shirt and school shoes.

Learners at OR Tambo Primary School in Phomolong received school uniforms from the City of Ekurhuleni on February 5.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Environment and Waste Management Services Clr Ndosi Shongwe, in partnership with the City’s service provider for waste collection in the area, visited the school to hand over the uniforms.

The school uniform included a tunic, jersey, trousers, shirt and school shoes and were given to learners in Grades One to Three, as part of the City’s campaign to assist learners to commence their school programme without worrying about such basic necessities.

Addressing the learners, Ndosi said: “This campaign is very close to my heart due to the genuine difference it makes in the life of every benefiting child. Most of the children in this school reside in child-headed homes and the luxury of owning a new set of school shoes is a distant memory for them.

“Therefore, we are here to close the gap, working with our service providers.”
