Shangri-La helps Driehoek victims after bridge collapse

The entire school laid down coins and notes on the school field.

The tragedy at Hoërskool Driehoek, in which four learners lost their lives when a bridge walkway collapsed, touched the hearts of the learners of Shangri-La Academy.

A coin-laying fund-raiser in aid of the victims and their families was held at the school on February 8.

Spearheaded by Brenda Hall, senior preparatory head of department, R15 000 was raised. The money was handed over to Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels Fund.

“Being a school community ourselves, we were deeply affected by the events that befell Hoërskool Driehoek and decided to do our bit to help,” said Hall.

The entire school laid down coins and notes on the school field.

“We know that in the greater scheme of things, this is a small monetary contribution, but we truly hope it can be put to good use by the families who desperately need it at this difficult time,” added Hall.
