Church reaches out to orphanage in Tembisa
Itshe Le Gumbi Ministry Apostolic Church celebrated Valentine’s Day with Ikhaya Lothando Boys Orphanage at Endulweni Section, Tembisa.
Itshe Le Gumbi Church Choir from Tembisa’s Endulweni Section under the administration of Itshe Le Gumbi Ministry Apostolic Church celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 17 with Ikhaya Lothando Boys Orphanage in Tembisa.
The event was organised by Lady Archbishop Nompumelelo Julia Gumbi of Itshe Le Gumbi Church to celebrate the month of love with the boys.
The event was part of the church’s vision to provide assistance to local welfare organisations. The church donated food parcels, cleaning products and toiletries.

The day ended with a game of soccer match between Ikhaya Lothando and Itshe Le Gumbi Boys. Ikhaya Lothando won 7-1.
Other events included a performance by the church choir; a drama play by Sello and Boys; and a gumboots dance exhibition which was followed by a poetry reading by Matshepo.
President Archbishop Alfred Mbongeni Gumbi said the purpose of the event was to reach out to the community to show love and support.
“We came to the orphanage last year in partnership with Tembisa Gospel Choir and cleaned up the centre. This year we came independently,” said Gumbi.

Lady Gumbi said the event was successful.
“The games played were aimed at building teamwork and team spirit. Thank God the weather allowed us to reach our goal of showing love,” she said.
Nomthandazo Mabona, a care worker at the orphanage, extended the orphanage’s gratitude to the church, saying the event was important to the boys.
“We appreciate the church coming to the centre because every time they come they put smiles on the faces of our boys. Their donations mean a lot, we teach the boys to have a purpose in life,” said Mabona.
