Organisers of the Philly’s Games awarded a bursary to a teenager to pursue a course in political science and technology.
The organisers of the big Tembisa soccer tournament honoured Norkem Park High School 2018 matriculant Tshepang Phawe for her exceptional academic performance.
Phawe said she was very excited about what the Philly’s Games have done for her.
“I am very proud to be honoured by the organisation that cares so deeply about people.
“That is what makes it unique, because it ensures the success of young people,” said Phawe.
The 18-year-old added that, like the organisation, she is also passionate about making a change in the community and she said she is unapologetic about empowering a black child.
“To Baba Philly I want to say, out of all your achievements, you must realise that you are leaving behind a legacy by changing every child’s life.
“Thank you a million times. You inspire me to change people’s lives.
“You embody the saying of Maya Angelou: ‘When you learn, teach,'” Phawe said.
