Services resume at Child Welfare Kempton Park

The staff returned to work on February 20 even without the assurance that they will receive their salaries in coming months.

Staff members at Child Welfare Kempton Park have returned to work after three weeks of closing office.

The staff downed tools on January 28 as they hadn’t been paid for three months.

They were initially paid one month’s salary on February 4. Two weeks later, on February 19, the staff was back-paid for the other months they were not paid.

They returned to work the following day where they were welcomed by a backlog of work that had accumulated over the weeks.

Staff said they would work hard to clear the backlog and hoped the financial situation at the society would change for the better.
