More than 50 officers take part in investigations in the CBD.

Police stations and metro police officers from across Kempton Park and Tembisa joined hands last week Friday to fight crime in Kempton Park CBD.

Their joint operation saw eight traffic fines issued, three second-hand stores fined for non-compliance with the necessary laws and the search of 139 vehicles, 264 people and six abandoned houses.

“The operations were held from 9.45am until 6pm under the command of Lt Col Snothi Ndaba and five captains from cluster stations,” Const Dipuo Ditshego, acting spokesperson for the Kempton Park SAPS, told Express.

According to Ditshego, 50 officers participated in the operation and came from Kempton Park SAPS, Tembisa and Tembisa South SAPS, Ivory Park SAPS, Norkem Park SAPS, EMPD Traffic and EMPD Wardens.

Express joined the Kempton Park SAPS on one of their visits to a second-hand tyre shop in Kempton Road. After the investigation, it was discovered that the owner did not have all the necessary paperwork and he was fined.
