REMEMBER: Jacaranda FM #Straatbraai in Kempton today
'We look forward kuiering up a storm in Kempton Park to kick off March in style,' says host Rian van Heerden
Kemptonians can gear up for the second Jacaranda FM Scenic Drive #Straatbraai for 2019 which will take place right here in our city on March 1.
It will take place in Seekoei Street in Van Riebeeck Park, with Rian van Heerden and the team broadcasting live from location between 4pm and 7pm.
Jacaranda FM’s Thabiso Khambule will also be on the DJ decks to keep the party pumping.
Says Rian: “The #Straatbraai initiative was started in 2018 and has proven hugely popular with more than 800 people joining us at one of the braais.
“We look forward to ‘kuiering’ up a storm in Kempton Park to kick off March in style.
“The idea behind the concept was to provide an opportunity for people to get together, to get to know their neighbours again. To create a sense of common cause and unity again.
“It’s something that was so part of the South African culture, but, for some reason, we haven’t been doing it for years. Now we’re having street braais again, coming together as South Africans – irrespective of background or heritage.
“It’s an evening of braaiing together, having a lekker ‘kuier’ together, doing more of the things you love, with the people you love, to the tune of more music you love.”
