WATCH: Kempton bikers take a pink stand against potholes
'It is a tragedy waiting to happen,' one biker said about the pothole-ridden roads.
Kempton Park bikers fed up with the city’s pothole-ridden roads have started to take action, pothole for pothole and with pink spray paint at hand.
“Everyone is gatvol,” said paramedic and founding member of Bikers Against Road Carnage (BARC) Jan Liebenberg.
Members spray pink spray paint around potholes, with the hope that the municipality will take action.
Liebenberg created the movement after his friend and fellow biker TC Frankenberg (32) died on December 26 after being critically injured in a motorcycle accident at unmarked road works on Isando Road.

Bikers across South Africa, and even in America and Ireland, have started to follow these local bikers’ example.
“We can’t afford for things to go on like this, it is a tragedy waiting to happen,” Liebenberg said. “We’ll be happy when potholes are properly fixed because they keep appearing.”
According to him, BARC is not politically affiliated, hence the choice of pink paint. “We just want to create awareness and we want to see action taken,” he added.
Liebenberg and fellow bikers were seen on the corner of Veld and Vlei streets in Glen Marais on Wednesday afternoon, where they marked multiple potholes. Passing motorists were delighted.
“Yes, guys, come to my street too,” one woman shouted, while many others hooted in approval.
