Legendary BMW driving instructor from Klipfontein dies

He was a very talented person with a lot of hand skills, hence his super control ability of any BMW vehicle.

Legendary BMW driving instructor Lucas Monyanyedi (59) from Klipfontein, Tembisa has died and will be buried on March 9.

The funeral service will start at 7am at Care Bible Church in Klipfontein and will depart to Waterval Cemetery at 10am.

Lucas followed in his father’s footsteps when he became a reverend of the Free United Church of Christ under the leadership of the church Bishop, Thabo Monyanyedi, who incidentally is also Lucas’s brother.

Lucas was known among communities, more especially of Tembisa and Klipfontein, to be a God-sent priest who would assist the bereaved, bury the dead and deliver sermons to anyone, notwithstanding whether they belonged to a denomination, a church or any political formation.

He never was one who bothered himself about negative societal narratives.

He was a very talented person with a lot of hand skills, hence his super control ability of any BMW vehicle that could be placed before him.

He mastered the Jim Canna during his days as an advance driving instructor at the Kyalami track and produced a whole lot of trained SA drivers as a capable driving instructor.

There has been many accolades and expressions of gratitude from as far afield as Cape Town from people who went through his training.

He easily could have become a golf professional, however, he chose to focus on serving society at a religious level as he was as good with a golf club as he was with his putter.

His brother, Bishop Thabo Monyanyedi, said while he is saddened by his death he will take solace from the fact that Lucas’s influence on both himself and the church will live on.

His other brother, Ntuna Monyanyedi, said it is such a great loss to them as a family and he will always be remembered by all, more especially his wife Danisile and their six children.
