W/O Elvis Manyike from the Kempton Park SAPS told Express that Viljoen was on his way to see his mother, who lives in East London. “It appears that he ran out of money and left the bike,” Manyike said.
According to Zonita Grobbelaar, a CPF member from the Empangeni area, the bike was found in Uvongo, about 300km from Empangeni on February 23. Viljoen was found on a beach about 5km away, 12 days later.
“Wolf Security members spotted him on Ramsgate beach around noon,” Grobbelaar told Express. “When he confirmed that he was Viljoen, he was taken to Margate SAPS.”
Grobbelaar added that it seemed Viljoen was sleeping wherever he could, such as on park benches, because he had no money.
Manyike said on Tuesday that Viljoen’s father had been contacted and that the missing man had been put on a flight back to Kempton Park.
