WATCH: Five involved in crash near Hoërskool Kempton Park

Five people were involved in the crash, but only one sustained injuries.

Traffic was temporarily brought to a standstill on Wednesday morning after a multi-vehicle accident close to Hoërskool Kempton Park saw a small truck overturn.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the metro police, the accident on the corner of Monument and Van Riebeeck roads involved a light delivery vehicle with five occupants and a Volkswagen Golf driven by a female driver.

It is unclear how the accident occurred but when Express arrived at around 8.30am, the truck was on its side. The Volkswagen was on the opposite side of the intersection with damage to its front and surrounded by cones.

Smart Security member Ryno Opperman said he and his colleague had to break open part of the small truck to free four men.

“They were unharmed but the driver was injured and taken to hospital,” he told Express.

Mokheseng said the female driver didn’t sustain any visible injuries.

“Metro police officers saw the accident scene when passing and were able to tend to it,” he added.

The scene was cleared by 10am.

The female driver of this car, who was also involved in the crash, escaped unharmed.
