Animals at Kempton Park SPCA could go hungry soon

According to Kira Sparrow, manager at the centre, the dog food available is only enough for a day and a half.

Kempton Park SPCA is in desperate need of dog and cat food.

According to Kira Sparrow, manager at the society, the dog food available is only enough for a day and a half.

“Due to a large influx of animals, about 40, over the past weekend, there isn’t much food left in the container,” said Sparrow.

“We truly need the community’s help to feed the animals.”

Glen Marais resident Frank Bennetts was saddened to discover the situation at the society when he dropped off four bags of food.

“We received a call to donate towards the SPCA on one of our community WhatsApp groups and I was touched when some of the staff members started crying when I donated the dog food,” said Bennetts.

“The staff was overwhelmed because there isn’t much food left to feed the animals and they are worried about what they will feed them. The situation is really bad and they really need our help.

“We need to unite as a community and help.”

Sparrow confirmed that a donation of food was received on Tuesday and said: “We are truly grateful for Tuesday’s donations and we still need more. The cat food isn’t that bad, but we could really do with both cat and dog food.”
