EMPD appoints 14 new superintendents

All the promoted superintendents will occupy positions in the operations division.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) has appointed 14 officers into vacant superintendent posts.

At this important junior management level it will give vital assistance to precinct commanders in the operations division in order to ensure effective management and good service delivery.

Six of the newly-appointed superintendents conferred with their ranks in February are females. All the appointees promoted are from within the EMPD.

They all have been taken through intensive and rigorous training to hone their managerial, technical and communication skills in preparation for their new responsibilities, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

All the promoted superintendents will occupy positions in the operations division. Eight will assist chief superintendents at precincts, one at land invasion and the rest within specialised services, which include OR Tambo International Airport, the first responder unit, public order policing and K9 Unit.

The appointments were effective from February 1.
