Woman dies after being trapped underneath car on R23 on-ramp

“Eight of us lifted the vehicle to get her out,” a security member on scene said.

A female passenger was killed on the R23 on-ramp to the R21 on Wednesday morning when the driver of the vehicle apparently lost control of the car around a sharp bend and it overturned.

In the process, the victim got trapped beneath the car.

“Eight of us lifted the vehicle to get her out, but unfortunately she died on the scene,” Gerald Groenewald, a Sec Pros security member, told Express.

He and his team responded to the emergency call at 10.45am.

The front-seat passenger and driver of the car managed to escape the wreck with minor injuries. They were transported to hospital for further treatment.

Groenewald added that the road was closed for law enforcement to conduct an investigation and was only reopened at 1.30pm.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family at this time.”
