UPDATE: Eskom ups load shedding to Stage 4

Eskom has moved to stage 4 load shedding at noon, after stage 3 had been implemented at 10am on Saturday.

Eskom will continue with stage 2 load shedding until Sunday.

The risk of load shedding until the middle of next week also remains high.

Plant breakdowns and the need to manage diesel and water resources led to Eskom reverting to load shedding.

Eskom said the management of diesel and water resources were necessary to ensure that the impact of the stage of load shedding in the week ahead could be reduced.

The outlook for the next week indicates a high risk and up to stage 2 load shedding may be implemented.

Saturday (Stage 2):

8am to 10.30pm: Geyser ripple control

10am to 1pm: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions

12.30pm to 15.30pm: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park

3pm to 6pm: Birch Acres, Terenure, Edleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton West

5.30pm to 8.30pm: Geyser ripple control

8pm to 11pm: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4

Sunday Stage 2):
