Slain security guard (22) to be honoured on Thursday morning

All community members are invited to join on the R21 north near Griffiths Road at 11am.

A 22-year-old security guard, who died in hospital on Wednesday morning after he was severely injured in a shoot-out on the R21 north, will be honoured with a wreath-laying ceremony on Thursday (March 21) morning.

According to Gerald Groenewald from Sec Pros Security, all members of the community are invited to place a flower at the spot where Francois Swart (22) and his colleague were attacked by 10 suspects in an attempted armed robbery on Tuesday morning.

“[This will be] for our fallen brother,” Groenewald told Express.

A cross in memory of Swart was erected by his friends on the R21 north near Griffiths Road on Tuesday. This is also where the wreath-laying will take place at 11am.
