Ward Seven youth cleans up park in Tsenolong

Ward Seven youth in Tsenolong Section will inspire Tembisan youth.

Ward Seven youth in Tsenolong Section finished turning a fly-infested illegal dump into a beautiful park on March 24.

ANC Member of Parliament for Tembisa Sello Ali Tleane commended the young people who cleaned the site on the corner of Lefini Street and DM Marokane Drive.

“The illegal dump was an eyesore that degraded the dignity of local residents, some of whom used to sneak out at night to throw refuse into the space.

“Now, the dumping has stopped as the park is fenced in with wires,” said Tleane.

He said he wants to encourage young people from other parts of Tembisa to emulate the youth of Tsenolong Section by eradicating rubbish dumps in their own neighbourhoods.

“This is for the restoration of a hygienic environment, which is in line with the government’s quest for the revival and transformation of townships into lively and buzzing suburbs of rejuvenated small businesses and social life,” he said.

Tleane said as the government they wish to appeal to residents who have tenants on their properties to purchase about three to four 240-litre bins to cater for the refuse produced by their tenants.

“This is in addition to the one free 240-litre bin issued by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality to every home. Let us make an effort to keep our environment clean.”

The zealous group consists of Jerry Mkhaliphi, Zakhele Petlane, Siboniso Rankapole, Karel Mokgahlane and Lucky Skhosana.
