Faith Based Organisation prays for peaceful elections
Faith Based Organisation held its first-ever prayer day in Tembisa.
Faith Based Organisation (FBO) hosted a prayer day at Sam Hlalele Community Hall on March 23 where they prayed for peaceful elections and an end to crime.
The event started with a prayer march from Tembisa South Police Station to the community hall. Several pastors from around Tembisa and Ivory Park were invited to attend, as well as the police, educators, the justice department, the IEC and women’s forums.
The meeting was opened by FBO chairperson Pastor Xoli Nzo, after which different pastors prayed for an end to gender-based violence, substance abuse and crime. They also prayed for peaceful elections and said prayers for men and children.
Bishop Michael Mtshali said the event was the first of its kind in Tembisa and they hoped to host another one.
“The event was successful, with more than 300 people in attendance. We have reached more places than we thought we would. We also had political people who came to pray in their personal capacity,” said Mtshali.
There were also dramatic and musical performances.
